Forensic Examination of Satellite Navigation and GPS Devices

Satellite Navidagtion

Stand alone GPS (Global Positioning System) devices and 'SatNav' (Satellite Navigation) devices are now commonly used in vehicles, by individuals, as well as now being found in a variety of mobile phones.

Clues & Co are experienced in the examination of GPS based devices and systems, as well as the technology behind the systems, for forensic purposes.

Home/Office (favourite) location data, stored/saved waypoint information, last route(s), last GPS fix, last start position, active tracks/logs, last paired Bluetooth devices (i.e. to determine whether a driver's mobile phone set up to use the handsfree system built into a SatNav unit or not) can be captured, and in some cases recovered from the device memory if deleted, on various makes and models of GPS and Satellite Navigation devices, as well as from mobile phone based GPS/SatNav applications.

Such information can be extracted and processed in a forensically sound manner for location and route analysis.
